I don't know how he does it!

The rules of residency state that a resident is only allowed to work 80 hours a week averaged over a month.  They definitely work all 80 hours!  Many times, Phil comes home and does even more work (from studying, to reading the latest medical news, to typing patient info into the computer).  Sleep is definitely lacking in a resident's life (especially when you have 3 kids and a wife that you also have to spend time with)!  I have found Phil sleeping in Ryan's bed, sleeping on the floor in the Luke's room, sleeping in a chair while the kids are running around crazy, and even taking a little longer to "open his eyes" after a prayer in church!  He told me a few days ago that being a doctor is his dream job!  I am glad he loves his job, and we have been able to support him through it.  Only 15.5 months left until he is done with residency, but who is counting (ME)!  =)

This picture was taken after he came home from a 24 hour shift.  Who can sleep like that?!?!?

This picture was taken during a month that he was working a lot, and it was only a few weeks after Eric was born! He went upstairs to do work, but it doesn't look like he got too much done! =) You can see the computer he was using and the papers he was studying. I love that he used Eric's blanket to cover himself up with!
